Thomas Fire Victims May Need to Re-Register to Vote
(Ventura) – Ventura County Clerk-Recorder, Registrar of Voters Mark Lunn encourages Thomas Fire victims to confirm their voter registration information prior to May 21, 2018, the registration deadline. Lunn stated, “Thomas Fire victims have had a lot on their plate during the last five months, and their voter registration may have been overlooked. I encourage everyone to confirm their voter registration before the deadline.”
Voters must re-register to vote for reasons including a change of address, name change, or change in political party affiliation. There are several options available to re-register to vote including:
- Online registration via the Elections Division’s website http://venturavote.org;
- Texting “Ventura County” to 2VOTE (28683); or
- Re-registering in person at the Elections Division, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., located in the Hall of Administration, Lower Plaza, 800 S. Victoria Avenue, Ventura.
Current registered Ventura County voters may complete the “Update Voter Registration Form” located on the Elections Forms tab of the Elections Division’s websitehttp://venturavote.org. Thomas Fire victims may choose to keep their current residence on file if they plan to move back, but update their mailing address if they’re a permanent Vote By Mail voter.
If voters are unable to register by the May 21, 2018 deadline, they have the choice to register and vote through Election Day using the Conditional Voter Registration option, which allows them to register to vote and vote a provisional ballot. Conditional Voter Registration is only available in person at the Elections Division, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., located in the Hall of Administration, Lower Plaza, 800 S. Victoria Avenue, Ventura.
